I don't think there's any salvaging it at this point. It's totally happening. Plenty of hair in the back and on the sides, but I'm gonna end up looking like my dad by the time I'm 30. My hair's always been the only thing I'm insecure about.

I'm worried about what I'll look like totally bald though. I feel like once I go all the way there is no going back like I'll never have hair again.

I still look good in a hat. I look like I've got a full head of hair then. But when I gotta take it off then I feel like I'm gonna end up looking like I'm just hiding it.

Least I grew a goatee so I'll have something going for me.

*sigh*

Some guys look decent with a shaved head, though I imagine we'd need pics of you to give you advice there (and I can understand your discomfort in providing such).

Have you looked into hair restoration, regrowth, or whatever they call stuff like Rogaine and Bosly and all that?

I use finasteride and rogaine. To great results. I do have most of my hair but I did notice my hairline was thinning and I didn't like it. I did something about it, and now I'm glad I did.

Plenty of people say, "just shave it and own it" which is good advice on one hand. But on the other, there's no shame in NOT wanting to go bald and trying to keep your hair. Everyone looks different and what gives you confidence is unique to each person.

So if you want to assess your options, contact a hair restoration specialist and see what options are best for you. Either a medical regiment (rogaine/fin), a hair transplant or both. No reason to not meet with a doctor, in the end if you decide to do nothing there's no harm in just taking a consultation.

Do some research or call your doctor and see if they can recommend someone if you don't know where to call.

I can say that I felt a lot better about myself when I opted to shave it all off and keep it only to the point that there is some shading on my noggin. Can't vouch for anyone but me on that regard, but I would say give it a shot and see how you feel.

How often do you have a haircut? I doubt you'll "never have hair again" even if you try going bald.

No I'll have plenty of hair around my head, but not towards the front probably.

Yeah looked in to that. Too expensive and most likely too late at this point.

Thanks. The thing is I feel like I'll totally be able to pull it off, but I'm just hesitant.

Thanks for the advice. I got a prescription for finasteride I need to get checked out, but I'm worried it's too late and would cost too much long term? IDK. I know rogaine is like $40 a pop and I couldn't do that on a regular basis.

Ehhhhhhhhhhh.

I use finasteride too, and it will help you maintain what you currently have as well as regrow some of what you've lost.

PROTIP: you can get what you need pretty cheaply. If you don't have insurance that covers the drug, ask your doc to write a prescription for 5mg finasteride.

For treatment of balding, you're generally prescribed 1 mg doses. But they make a 5mg version that is usually prescribed for prostate issues and is way cheaper per unit than the 1mg doses. You can easily split up the 5mg pills and get a year's supply for around 200-300 even w/o any coverage

I just had to accept shaving it all off once I realized I was going bald.
Unfortunately, I hate the way it looks shaved off too.

So now I'm stuck looking/feeling awful no matter what I do with it. Fucking pathetic genetics.

This. Great advice. I personally use the 1mg because I prefer the ease of it, but all docs will offer you the 5mg as a cheaper option. You take it the same as a the 1mg, just cut it into pieces and take it either daily if you cut it into quarters or every other day if you take a half.

The rogaine isn't too bad either. You can order it online from Jet.com and other places. The box comes as a 90 day supply. While it never lasts me that long, I still don't need to buy it that frequently either. It's also easy to use, you can either use it twice daily, or once a day with two or three droppers or caps (liquid v foam).

I take fin in the morning and use rogaine at night when I wash up.

You don't have to go fully shaven (which is a pain to maintain), you can just buzz it down.
