Are 2 handed weapons good in this game?

The broadsword was my favorite thing ever in Demons Souls

Any weapon can be wielded with 2 hands, although the damage boost isn't nowhere near as good as it was in previous games.

Treat any kind of magic builds like the plague, magic fucking sucks in this game.

idk, I always start with knight, since you start off with the best armor and a 100% physical damage reduction shield

and yea, two-handed weapons can be pretty good.

Armor is useless. Don't spend any points to increase equipment load beyond using the heaviest weapon you want with the lightest armor you can get.

One handed swords are the best in this game, since the speed is a lot faster than previous games.

Don't rush either. Sometimes you just gotta take out the enemies one at a time. Gitgud at blocking and dodge rolling.

Ultra Greatswords and Great Hammers are p fun but yeah you gotta watch out for their weight. Awesome for pve since you can slice through a mob and not get interrupted due to hyper armor and poise

Heavy armor is useless compared to light armor, but do NOT leave any armor slot empty. You'll take way more damage than normal if you aren't fully equipped.

Mad cuz bad

Dark Souls PvP is a sad joke of a mode

What the fuck is the point of spawning someone with end-game equipment and spells into the game someone who has only killed 2 or 3 bosses and literally doesn't stand a chance because his stats and equipment don't allow him to even scratch his opponent's HP bar?

The only bigger joke than DS PvP are the people who play it

It's not true that armor is useless and it's not a matter of opinion or even anything complex to consider: Starting with Bloodborne, they made armor's primary contribution to damage reduction be a % reduction. So, in DS3, it's called damage absorption. If for example, you have 15.500 damage absorption for physical damage, that means physical damage is reduced by 15.5%.

You put on the lightest throwaway armor and your defense against physical stuff will be like, around 7%, but with really good (and not even near the heaviest) you could get it up to around 25%.

Reducing damage by 25% instead of 7~10% is not an insignificant difference.

Also, you can make big slower weapons work, but smaller quicker weapons are pretty dominant in DS3. Straight swords in particular are pretty bonkers. So if you wanna go with a straight sword you'll be well covered there.

Light or medium armor is the best. Pay attention to your weight so that you're not over encumbered, it affects your stamina and if you're too heavy you'll do the "fat guy roll" instead of the long, quick one.

Skill trumps "end-game builds" every time

The only thing that gets really shitty about Dark Souls PvP is gank squads but you p much have to expect 99% of your invasions to be gank squads anyways

New player gets invaded by highly optimized ganker. New player does practically zero damage to invader due to stat/gear differences. Invader 1-2 shots newbie. Newbie can totally win with sheer skill

That guy doesn't even really know what he's talking about and basically used a clickbait video title since what he really meant is that the HEAVIEST armor is mostly useless because you won't get significantly higher absorption compared to just really high end medium/lighter heavy armor (though a patch buffed heavy armor because of this exact reason).

The defense/attack formula he was struggling to understand has been in since Demon's Souls and it's been known since then that the complicated formula it uses basically means if one value is significantly higher than the other, the lower one is massively reduced in effectiveness. The largest consequences of this being that split damage weapons do significantly less damage than their combined AR would indicate (except in DS2 which used far smarter game mechanics and formulas) and that this defense value falls out of any significance once PvE scales up its damage output high enough that no amount of defense you can get can make a dent in it.

Which is not actually relevant to armor in Bloodborne or DS3 because as I said, these games changed it. Armor doesn't raise that value, it raises damage absorption, which is a % reduction, that stacks multiplicatively from each source.

It's not complicated as a result, because it's just a % reduction.

If an incoming attack does 1000 damage before % reduction, and you have 7% reduction, you take 930 damage. If your damage reduction was 25%, 750. Going from 930 to 750 is also close to a 19.5% reduction in damage from the difference in those two numbers, since as a % reduction climbs higher to a conceivable max of 100, each point added is actually worth more than the last.
