Iron Man was super important for the MCU, but I'm not too high on his films. 3 is bottom tier MCU.

They made the same movie thrice. At least 2 had Sam Rockwell.

I actually saw someone use an arcade game for his argument as to Ironman being well known by mainstream people. I honestly don't know if some people here are pretending to lack self-awareness or if one should assume what they say at face value.

Before the RDJ movie, a kid came to my house on Halloween.

I gave him extra candy because he was dressed as Iron Man. The kids face lit up and he exclaimed "he knows who i am!"

The arcade game was super popular. It's up there with fucking Gauntlet and Double Dragon. If you're too young to have played that game that's not the game's problem.

That's like saying something like I dunno, dragon ball, is a super popular anime. At the end of the day it's still anime. Within the niche that is arcade, or video games, saying something is super popular is irrelevant when compared to the masses at large.

I didnt read the comics but he made appearances in Spider Man TAS and X-Men TAS IIRC

I also vividly recall using him in Marvel vs Capcom and MvC2 extensively

Sure you can say anything is just an anything if you're trying to discredit it that way, but the arcade game isn't the only game he appeared in, nor was it the only medium external to comics he appeared in.

Iron Man was popular enough that people felt including him in various other things. Characters like Dr. Strange were not.

Sure if your entire argument boils down to "he is more popular after the movies than before" that's pretty much a fact, but he was still a well known character before the movies.

Yes however, he really was not. Well known is a term reserved for the big characters like spiderman, and wolverine. Which is a step below the term famous, like batman or possibly superman.
