Fable's why I got a GameFAQs account and I was so hyped up with all the stuff Peter Molyneux lied about that when I got the game... I was devastated. It was, like, seven hours long and missed out sooooo much of the stuff he said would be in there. Left me incredibly bitter. Taught me a valuable lesson though, that's for sure. I'm always incredibly skeptical about games and I avoid reading into it until it's actually come out.

That game and the whole series would be viewed a lot better if Peter Molyneux doesn't spend so much time hyping things up that won't actually be in the game or even quite in future games.

What we got was solid enough on its own, but Molyneux's promises made it look like a big disappointment.

But yeah I bet that series hasn't aged too well.

I really would like a new Fable game very badly though. Technology wise we can't be too far off from being able to make a game way closer to the way Molyneux described it would be.

I was fortunate to find Fable long after the ill-fated expectations, hype, and rumors had evaporated from the game's release. I didn't know anything about it, I hadn't heard anything about a guy called Peter Molyneux. I bought a used Xbox at a local store and grabbed Fable TLC because it looked interesting. To this day, I still really enjoy the hell out of it.

I think the best thing about the game is something I discovered the last time I played through it, which was earlier this year - the game has an undeniable atmosphere to it. It is dripping with a charm, tone, and mood that I haven't seen in other game, hell not even in later Fables. About the closest I can recall any other game getting to the kind of irreverent feel with legitimate mythical atmosphere is probably the new The Bard's Tale back in the early 2000's. Both games just hit a certain feeling for me.
