A woman in her 50s was arrested Monday on suspicion of killing her husband at their home in Tokyos Shinagawa district, police said.

According to police, they received a call from the woman at around 9 a.m. on Monday morning, telling them that her husband was dead, Fuji TV reported. When police arrived at the scene, they found the husband dead. Police said the woman admitted killing her husband, who was in his 60s, by hitting him with a cooking pot and beating him with her hands.

The wife, whose name has not been released, appears to be mentally unstable, police said.

Neighbors were quoted as saying that the couple had been frequently quarreling, though no one assumed "it would go that far.
