Current Events > I kinda hate Mike from Stranger Things. (SPOILERS!)

He's always so whiny and kind of an ass to everyone, like, all the time. In season 1 it kinda made a little more sense the times where he got angsty, and there was a bit more of a balance between him being upset and having moments where he seemed genuinely caring and was a decent friend.

In season 2, he's just a raging prick all the time to everyone. Especially Max, he's literally just a dick to her because she's a girl who isn't Eleven. But even then it's not just her, he's an ass to pretty much everyone at some point in the show except Will.

I don't like him.

Not entirely related, but I also don't like the actor's character in It either.

At first that seemed like Lucas' job though. The cynical "voice of reason" to contrast all the supernatural shit going on around them. It worked, it suited him. But now Mike's just going full prick.

Honestly, most of the characters kinda annoyed me this season/were an ass at some point or another. >_>

Mike was the big one, but Dustin and El had their moments too.

Agreed. I was really looking forward to this season because I wanted to actually see Will be a character since he was basically just a plot device in season 1. Then they go and make him a plot device again. >_>

I agree with this hard. There is no excuse for treating Max like that when he knew El needed help last season. Worst part was when everyone but Mike agreed to let her come trick or treating but he threw a tantrum because they don't mindlessly obey him as the leader of the group.

They were trying to cheer Will up but Mike managed to make it about him.

I honestly forgot Mike was there for half of Season 2. He just seemed to fade into the background for several episodes in a row until right before the finale.

Mike was being a dick, but I understand his point of view. To him, he has all the friends he needs. Somebody new just throws off the whole dynamic, even if the new person is really cool. It changes things, and not everybody likes change.

Doesn't make his behavior towards her okay, but I get it. Some people just need more time warming up to newcomers than others.

To a certain extent I kinda get it, even though I still think he's being stupid. But it wasn't even just towards Max though, he was an ass to practically everyone this season. I get it, he misses El, that's not an excuse to be a dick to everyone around you.

Like, honestly, it was a relatively realistic portrayal. But I still don't like him. >_>

Just finished Season 2. I liked it well enough, but I also didn't find it to be amazing. Felt like it over-relied on 80's tropes, which I guess the first season did too, but it didn't feel as natural this time around.

You're not really supposed to sympathize with him though because that's what El did in season one in Lucas' mind, and Mike adamantly stood by her and deflected any criticisms of her destabilizing things. But as soon as the shoe was on the other foot, he turned into an even more close-minded verison of what he was against previously. Because it wasn't -his- new special girl.

I actually really like it and I don't feel like it got nearly enough attention as a subplot throughout the series.

Season 2 is far greater than 1. This is because of more 80s references. That's what's GOOD about this show.

I hated his character in IT. The audience I was watching with laughed every time he swore for some reason.

Mike is a little more tolerable.

I agree with the Halloween part, he had a temper tantrum because the guys didn't ask his permission and it just came off odd. I understand him not wanting to tell Max because they signed a bunch of government forms saying they wouldnt talk about it. Plus why would you want to get someone involved in this crazy shit? if Lucas really likes Max you would think he would want her away from this.
