Despite how it triggers fanboys the fact is Mortal Kombat is and always was a kids game. The movie needs to be a kids movie and real live action over the top Peter Jackson gore would have just killed the movie and made it a mess. They were right to make it a tame kids action movie. Gore would have made it worse. Yeah sure the choreograph doesn't look that good, but comparing to action movies now I can actually see what the hell is going on and can keep up to what they were doing. The first movie delivered that very well.
