I think I played through FFIX at least 4 times back on PS1 when it came out for my guide on it, and Im playing through it again on my iPhone with some of the built in cheats at times and Im still loving it just as much as when I first played it. One of my favorite games of all time. Easily in my top 10 games ever.

I think after I finish FFIX again I may have to get Chrono Trigger next...

Make sure you steal from every boss (multiple times, too. Unlike a lot of FF titles, enemies have more than 1 steal).

FFIX is one of the best games ever made tbh

Can ususally buy anything you miss in a town or two though.

Stealing also increases the power of one of his late game attacks

Chrono Cross really could have used another party slot. You pretty much only get one extra one since you have to have your MC, and of course you'll want someone to Steal, so that only leaves you a Magic user to pick, so all 302 character are pretty much dumb down to about 5 people you might use

Yep, the slow ATB is a pretty big flaw and if it were at a normal speed, I'd say it's easily the best PS-era FF game.

Made it to eidolon wall and got Eiko. That pissing scene with Zidane and Vivi was weird af

Honestly you get used to the ATB. I only use high speed mode when I'm grinding for Gil for shit

They happen the first time and then randomly after that. Longer animations are more powerful than shorter animations. Once you acquire an accessory called Pumice Piece, it teaches the Boost ability to Dagger and Eiko. When equipped, Boost guarantees the longer summon animations.

The game is good, but the battles take forever. A simple battle against a weak enemy that should be over in a few seconds can last up to 20 seconds of because of unnecessarily long stupid animations.

Thats the ragtime mouse. I recommend resetting if you fail the quiz. He pops up several times and gives better goodies the more you answer correctly.

Have you run into any of the friendly monsters yet btw?

I can't think of any other JRPG that did as well as FF9 when it comes to actually making very young characters likeable.

if you want to cheese later-game fights, just have auto-regen and as many status immunities on characters as you can and then just spam summons

also the amount of ore you have for the summon that is learned from it increases that eidolon's power, so for example ramuh is a beast if you have 99 peridot in your inventory
