I love that seen, and the whole build up getting to lindblum. Take your time and enjoy it, I wish I could wipe my memory and play it again for the first time.

The FMVs are beautiful and the visuals still hold up really well.

The ATB is soooooo slooooow though

PS4 port btw. I'm not using any of those cheat modes or speed up modes since I've never played it before

Make sure you steal from every boss (multiple times, too. Unlike a lot of FF titles, enemies have more than 1 steal).

I wish game developers would realize that the consumer WANTS a return to these basic turn-based jrpgs. We don't want some ridiculous combat system ( I'm looking at you, Eternal Sonata).

New consoles give us a choice: shooters or platforners. I've been bored of online shooting competition for 15 years and platform games get old fast. Give us some rpgs. Fuck graphics. Just work on gameplay and make it long.

I would make the argument that good, solid, non-Nintendo platformers have been severely lacking the last two gens too. I'd love for mainstream jrpgs to kind of go back to basics tbh

Chocobo Hot n Cold is the shit. Make sure you get all of the treasures in each spot as soon as you get the chance. Youll get the chance to get powerful items early on.

You *can* grind.

You can also beat the game at level 1 if you git gud :)

You can farm some level 60 Grand Dragons if you want a shitload of levels

Equipment makes a bigger difference than most games, so while you may be using some old equipment to learn the abilities, it will leave you feeling weaker.

FF9 is one of my favorite 3 FFs along side 6 and Tactics.

My only complaints are how linear it is, and how damn slow the battle system is. And there may be one or two useless characters. Really minor quibbles, it really is one of the greatest games of all time

TC there are a few bosses you might not want to do this on spent a few hours trying to steal something once. They are usually purchasable yes but Gil never hurts especially once you get endgame

Also, I never really like Steiner story wise but by god he is such a monster in battle. He saves my ass every time.

Also make sure you deliver all the mog letters

I really liked the characters and setting, but my God the battles are so painfully slow. The load time is terrible to begin with, and the slow ATB speed on top of that made it that much worse.

It got to the point that I completely dreaded getting into battles, and I ended up dropping the game about 20 hours into it, sadly

Pretty jealous. I'd love the experience it for the first time now instead of when I was younger

my favorite one. it was just released at a bad time since it was right before ps2 game out. i think it would have sold much better if it was moved to being a launch ps2 title or even sold on ps1 and have a port with improved graphics on the ps2.

I really like IX, it's got a nice atmosphere. The visual style and the music are both amazing. Yes, the slow ATB is quite annoying, but apart from that I can't find many issues with the game. I guess the card game is a little much, as well. But can be fun.

(and btw, isn't Yooka-Laylee more collectathon than platformer? I dunno, I just can't think of many solid 3D platformers outside of Mario games. Mirror's Edge maybe)
