Try working at a bank. People are morons.

'I let someone claiming to be Microsoft remote into my computer'
'I got hired for a job on Craigslist, and the check they gave me got returned'
'Someone from your bank sent me a text alert with a link for a preapproved credit card application, I put in my social and everything, then when I clicked next the page blacked out. When am I getting my card?'

Most people are stupid. These scams are targeting people even dumber than the average. They keep doing them because sadly they are effective.

Not even because they are effective, but because if even 5 out of the 10,000 people who they try and scam fall for it, then they can profit.
