Fun game. I'm at like 75% completion. Did all of the biggest and best stuff, got all the outfits, all that's left is minor contortionist shit.

The side quests are arguably better than the main quests. They have actual story to them and some of them are really great.

The third act of the game is a fucking mess though, with a truly wtf ending. The third act retcons a lot of established lore. Some of the hidden tombs have some first civ stuff that talks directly to the girl in the animus and what they imply for the future is fucking huge. Makes me curious where the series is going. The animus the girl builthas the ability to actually alter the past, not just view it. And the forst civ devices basically say there's a major event coming involving time. A time catastrophe..

I really enjoyed the actual game side of things, but the story didn't really go anywhere until the mess of a third act, then made several significant revelations out of left field and retconned some lore.

8.5/10 imo.

I want to bone Aya. Also, the reason he made the assassin's was a letdown.

Yeah, I was more interested in bayek in how he is with the side quest people as a character.

I really don't know how I feel about the direction the present day is going.

They're actually messages from the isu/first civ directly to layla in the future, basically:

They Tell Her The Animus She Built has the ability to allow her to alter the past by creating wormholes, as well as see into the future, and that there is another major catastrophe coming that involves time. Basically, she built a time machine.

Also, demond's body still exists, and her animus can let her not only change the past, but also tap into the genetic memories of anyone, not just her own ancestors, and juno is still trying to reincarnate.... so yeah.

Considering how much this game retcons, I think they're trying to reboot it a bit. At least the gameplay in the past is fun.

Can you give some specific examples of what the game retcons?

Nothing present day. It retcons several things to do with how the brotherhood started. I can go further in depth if you'd like.

Yeah, please! I completed the game (platinum trophy and all) a few days ago but I can't remember noticing anything while I played.

Mostly to do with how the brotherhood was formed as mentioned in assassins creed 1 and 2. And the story of anubet(aya) in the vault in ezios house.

I can't tell if I beat it or not. I have no more main quests. I'm over 75% complete. The last main mission ended with Aya forming the Assassins or something, then I was back in the desert after the cut scene and the "Assassin's Creed Origins" title came up on the screen for a brief moment, no rolling credits, and me just standing in the desert.
Is that the ending?

Yeah, like I said, weak ending and a messy third act. Doesn't detract from the game itself and the side quests from being good however.
