Dunno if you were dealing with mormons or Jehova's Witnesses or what, but my main interaction with anything like that was when two mormon dudes happened by on the day my wife and I were moving out of our apartment, and they were all cheery and helped us for a few hours, and didn't even invite us to their church or talk to us about anything related to their religion.

I tell them I'm not interested instead of pretending to be interested just to be polite. not like I'm gonna argue with them like an angstheist or anything but yea. My stepfather told me a funny story about a relative or friend or someone who had religious people show up randomly to try to recruit him like they do. They were at the dude's house for hours, but he was a military dude and spent the whole time talking to them about that and printing out pages and pages of military recruitment stuff and went that much harder to try and recruit them. Really turned the tables. I wish I had been there to see it.
