I switch habitually between Firefox and Chrome and never really notice a difference. I think at this point they're both so fast that it's negligible

I'll wait for a vulnerability to emerge in 56, then go to 52 ESR, then Waterfox or something.
Gutting the XUL system just turns Firefox into a shitty Chrome clone, so why even bother with it?

Did noscript ever get rebuilt as webextension?
If it did, I seriously doubt ABE works anymore.

I find Firefox to be a memory hog, which sucks.

Currently I have 7 tabs of Chrome open using a total of 131.7 MB. I have 1 tab open in Firefox (not even loaded a website yet, just the homepage tab) and it's using 300.1 MB.

do you only have like 512mb of RAM or something

Really? I never saw that...

It's been in the context menu for a few releases.
It didn't become an icon forcefully inserted into the add-on area, with obnoxious fanfare, until recently (one of the 55 updates, I think).

There is barely any reason to use Firefox 57 over Chrome. Firefox 57's addon capabilities are reduced to Chrome's level, and having more addon capabilities was all that kept Firefox in the game.

Firefox itself is a fork of Netscape, spun off when Netscape became irrelevant against IE.
History will repeat itself. Just wait.

16 GB, why?

just seems weird to care about memory usage when you have so much RAM, most of which is likely empty the majority of the time

like I get if one browser is loading 5 pages in 150mb and the other one is taking up 2GB or something. But a couple hundred mb difference doesnt seem meaningful to me tbh. But I used to say the same thing when Chrome was the memory hog lol.

Usually, Adblock Plus or Firebug are to blame when Firefox gets RAM-hungry.

I use Firefox Focus specifically to avoid the ads. That sounds easier.

Does anybody know why Firefox has five processes open in Task Manager? Why not just one?

It's a process per tab (plus the main process), so that if one crashes, the whole browser doesn't go down. Also maybe for other things like certain plugins / add-ons. I think pretty much all browsers do this now.

Wish I had waited a bit to update, but it looks like they're working on getting it out for quantum within the week at least.

My biggest gripe outside of noscript not currently working, is having the tabs above the address bar. No easy way to swap the positions that I've found.
