They had an easy to use refund button that people were using to refund/cancel their orders of Battlefront 2.

They've deleted that, and now, to continue 'technically' fulfilling their legal obligation, have opened a call center to handle the refunds.

That has to be illegal. Surely the law has provisions for a company deliberately throwing up hurdles once shit hits the fan while technically still offering refunds.

I hope EA loses hundreds of millions in a class action lawsuit.

I know it's illegal to not have a cancellation option in some states / countries for an online purchase on the same online portal. This is why for a while you could only cancel your XBLG from your XBox if you lived in a certain state and everyone else had to call.

US has no laws regarding software refunds anyway. The only reason steam gave refunds is because the EU passed a law requiring it.

Yes but that's not the point. It's also a violation of your credit agreement.

By issuing a chargeback, you are fundamentally making 1 of 2 statements.

1. The merchant conducted a fraudulent transaction (either product not delivered, or lied about how much you were being charged)

2. The charge was conducted fraudulently (card use was unauthorized)

issuing chargebacks because of buyer's remorse is a very bad idea and while it WILL get your EA account banned, it CAN get your credit account cancelled and then you're really fucked.

Chargebacks are also for when you've made a good faith effort to get a refund you're entitled to and the merchant is being uncooperative. It's not purely restricted to fraud, although that's the primary reason.

So glad this has finally caught up. I was a religious Madden player up until 5 or so years ago when Ultimate team is where all their resources went. Anyone unfamiliar with that game mode.

It's pretty much pay to win. They turn players into cards and you open packs. Your cards compose the team you play with online. I remember being into it the first year because I had an online friend that would hook me up with his doubles.

Not kidding, he was a little kid who had rich parents. In the end I actually ended up selling these virtual cards on eBay. Made over a thousand dollars. Pretty sure eBay put a stop to that nonsense but that was the breaking point. No more madden here.
