I was thinking of writing a short one shot fanfiction where Sayori breaks free of Monikas control and confronts her on the day of the festival. Then they fight over the player but Monika still wins since she's pretty much God.

it's pretty cool in some aspects, especially the technical ones (though no one ever mentions these??) but honestly it's a bit shallow in terms of characters abd I don't really get how there's still so much to talk about

i don't know either why i am so obsessed with it. honest all the things they tried to do arent new. from 4th wall breaking to meta messing with game files but it's just pretty well done.

I mean, Monika herself shows signs of depression. In one of the text files that spawn during the second act she seriously ponders killing herself (and no one pushed her to think like this unlike Sayori and Yuri who was influenced by Monika). She even says you "saved her life" because she would have ended it if the player hadn't come. Plus, despite all the power Monika has she is actually incredibly meek and bows down to both Natsuki and Yuri whenever they stand up to her or get into fights and is never shown being assertive onscreen (she reserves all the messing with the game to offscreen).

In retrospect I probably should have started it back up after seeing DDLC's explosion of popularity. Only problem is you'd just see like six pages straight of spoiler-tagged text because of how big a deal they are to this game >_>

i believe the story is that she was originally a 4th wall breaking side character meant to teach you how to play the game with no route of her own. Her own self awareness made her have an "epiphany" that her world is a game. she got jelly that she didn't get a story of her own. (though I would've liked a monika route! that's a fuck up right there liek wtf when I figured out she didn't have a route I was like umm ok). Somehow figured out how to use console commands to control the game and alter script files so the things the girls suffer are multiplied by 10 so the player falls for her instead etc etc etc.

yeah she's a psycho bitch that manipulate her friends, i think the end redeemed her still. she never actually erase her friend's files and there is something to simpatyze

i really understand why you hate her considering your situation, i just cant help feeling sorry for her at the same time too >_<

She knows her friends don't exist though, and any simulation of pain can easily be rewritten. It's worse than just being a god surrounded by mortals; there are no mortals, just bits of data prewritten to know you and appreciate you. How is that not a pitiable character

She does consider other club members her friends though thats why she didnt erase them completely and had backup
