Very good match. Not sure if I think Velveteen can run with that gimmick on the main, but he certainly has the entertainment aspect of things down, and good moves too. He should be good!

I have to be honest

They came off as a bit of try hard. Like It was a Takeover and its wargames and we have to pull out every stop twice. While the story telling in the match carried it on its own. I would have at least dragged it out a bit more, they didnt need to hit spot after spot as quickly as they were.

Like I can see this to be used to get Wargames in the door for the main roster use, and it will be one of those things where the match may be better but everyone will say "nope nxt"

I dont know. It kept me hooked in but I feel like it could have used more breathing room

Also Angle slam and coast to coast night before angle vs shane because????

Just starting Takeover, first NXT seen in forever.

NOTES:
- Too bad Ellsworth is gone. I want to see him against Lars Sullivan. Chin vs. Chinless.
- Ohno's a face? I get he's a power striker, but I'm not getting behind a guy whose moveset involves striking the back of the head.
- Lots of strikes, lots of elbows... Lars impressed me a whole lot more than Ohno.

- Velveteen Dream is... different. All-in, I'll give him credit for that, and channeling Prince/Haddaway.
- Aleister Black theme and entrance is incredible. Velveteen's... not so much. Good pants though. And he's not a yeti.
- I thought I was impressed by Sullivan. Then I realized that last match would've looked mediocre back when Baron Corbin vs. Bull Dempsey was on the card after this match. Holy crap they're good.
- HOLY ****!!!
- That was awesome. Is he the last surviving Tough Enough?

- Women's match I was hype for, but it wasn't as good as I expected. Peyton Royce and Ember Moon impressed. Royce reminded me of Tyler Breeze from NXT Takeover Fatal Fourway: Lots of impressive spots and the glue that held things together.

- One of the craziest things things looking back at 3MB is realizing how tall they are. They definitely didn't stand tall back then, but holy crap do McIntyre and Mahal make people look tiny.
- Zelina Vega is hot as hell.

Too sleepy to really figure out WarGames itself

When was the last time there was a PPV with no titles on the line?

And if the answer is ONS 2005 since that was ECW, when is the last time before that?

WCW's is farther back than that one, Uncensored 1995

While looking at WCW ppvs, however, I discovered that WWE's upcoming Starrcade event has slightly changed, thanks in part to Styles winning the WWE title.

New Starrcade Card
Styles vs. Mahal in a steel cage match for the WWE title
Charlotte vs. Natalya for the Women's title
Corbin vs. Nakamura for the US title
Usos vs. Gable/Benjamin vs. Owens/Zayn vs. New Day for the SD Tag Titles
Roode vs. Ziggler
Dustin Rhodes vs. Dash Wilder

At least they finally put Dusty's kid (the WWE employed one, I mean) on the card.

I also looked up WCW PPVs, and saw a couple things too.

1: It's appropriate one of the worst PPVs ever made had no titles on the line...
2: There has been a World Title change in my home city, and it was fucking Flair over Hogan!
3: The dumbest concept for a PPV ever (vacate all the belts) Spring Stampede 200, of course had belts in the line, but it's the last time I can find a PPV with no champion vs challenger matches.

A lot of the vacating just boiled down to WCW trying to hit the reset button after taking a week off, despite the company gearing towards the direction of Sid vs. Hogan for the World title.

The only problem was, WCW hit said reset button literally one week before Spring Stampede.

I disagree that was the only problem. IMO, you DONT vacate all your belts ever even if you have 6 weeks till your next PPV. It just destroys anything the belts have. You can reset fueds without just straight vacating every belt.

WCW did have a terrible habit of vacating championships in its final 2 years. Just off the top of my head...

World
October 1999 - Vacated by JJ Dillon after Sting assaulted a referee at Halloween Havoc. This leads to the hilariously bad 32-man tournament that at least had a good winner
December 1999 - Vacated by Bret Hart the night after he defeated Goldberg via screwjob finish. Title determined in Hart/Goldberg rematch that same evening
January 2000 - Vacated by Bret Hart when he was forced to retire from health issues. Title match between Benoit and Sid at Souled Out.
January 2000 - Vacated by Benoit after he walked out of WCW. Title determined on Nitro between Nash and Sid
April 2000 - Vacated by Bischoff and Russo via reset. Title determined in a 4-man tournament that ended at Spring Stampede
September 2000 - Vacated by Vince Russo due to him not being an official wrestler. Title determined in a 49er Box match between Booker and Jarrett.

US
March 1999 - Vacated by Scott Hall due to injury. Title determined in 8-man tournament
July 1999 - Vacated by Scott Steiner due to injury. Title awarded to David Flair because fuck booking a credible champion
January 2000 - Vacated by Jeff Jarrett due to injury. Nash awards Jarrett the belt 24 hours later
April 2000 - Vacated via reset. 4 man tournament determines next champ
July 2000 - Vacated when Steiner used the banned Steiner Recliner on Mike Awesome. 8-man tournament determines next champion

Tag
Jan 1999 - Vacated due to Rick Steiner injury. Titles determined in a double elimination tournament
Oct 1999 - Vacated due to Rey Mysterio injury. Titles determined in triple threat tag match
Dec 1999 - Vacated due to Scott Hall injury. Titles determined in 8-team tournament
April 2000 - Vacated via reset. Titles determined in 4 team tournament
September 2000 - Vacated when Rey/Juvi were forced to for kayfabe reasons. Titles determined in battle royal

Cruiser
Oct 99 - Vacated when WCW dropped Lenny Lane's angle. Randomly awarded to Psychosis
Jan 2000 - Vacated due to Oklahoma exceeding weight limit. Title determined in tournament
April 2000 - Vacated via reset. Title determined in six-way match

TV
November 99 - Vacated when Scott Hall tossed belt into trash can. Reactivated when Jim Duggan found it in a dumpster.
