I am listening to the first one via audiobook and I am on chapter 8 or so (I listen to it while driving to and from my girlfriend's on the weekend and a little bit at night) and since you love Jim Butcher I figured you had good taste. First one is pretty good but slow throughout most of it. Second book is amazing, one of my all time favorites.

The Way of Kings is a slow plodding buildup to an incredible climax. If you have the patience for it, I think you'll really love it.

The first 2/3's or so of book 1 is fairly slow, but from the last 1/3 through WoR, it's constantly great. Enjoy.

Book series called The Stormlight Archive.
