I had a mention and briefly read the topic but didn't have time to respond before it purged.

Think it might have been @prettyprincess but I could be mistaken. Someone asking about AE boots.

I was just boot shopping and wanted suggestions then @ you when nobody else immediately responded

still considering a pair

I like these and chukkas in general
http://www.allenedmonds.com/shoes/mens-shoes/boots/montauk-plain-toe-chukka-boot/SF2403.html

and also saw an olive pair of one of red wings suede 6"s while shopping out, but wasn't totally sold on how well they would work with my everyday colors

And in an infinite regress, tell me, why is the pain of birth lighter borne than the pain of death?

What's the need? Is it for casual or work, everyday boot?

Hard to go wrong with AEs. The Clark's Desert Boot would be a solid cheaper option although I imagine you're already familiar.

Olive might be fairly unusual boot colour but it's quite neutral, it's certainly not going to clash with much. I still wouldn't buy them if it was my only pair of boots though.

everyday needs, something that works well for both work and casual comfort

I liked the olive, but I also worry about the maintenance required to keep them clean here
I enjoy a slimmer, more casual look, but broken ass Louisiana pavement could kill a hiking sole in no time just through regular wear

am a fan of the distressed suede Clark's

CDBs are good if you are a normie casual who desires to look like every early 20s white guy with internet access who is ready to graduate from metal t-shirts

That's always going to be a problem with suede tbh. So why not get some red wing 6s in a more versatile colour, like dark tan or something?

I don't personally like them but I think they tick the boxes as far as a decent chukka goes.
