Kids work hard in high school and want to celebrate that work for the last four years of their life. It's also for the parents as well, celebrating their kids' milestones.

It's basically 90% of a developing person's conscious life up to that point, it should be celebrated. And there are still lots of people who don't even get to that point unfortunately.

The alternative is quitting, which is doing less than the minimum. Once you commit to something at a minimum you're expected to finish it. We should be celebrating the people who graduated top of the class, and with various other achievements. I think high school graduation is worth celebrating, even though it is sort of expected now. Elementary/middle school graduation celebration, however, is asinine.
