It's not much of a milestone is it? A high school degree by itself isn't worth much anymore.

You can still get many jobs. A job is a job after all, as long as its honest.

Kids work hard in high school and want to celebrate that work for the last four years of their life. It's also for the parents as well, celebrating their kids' milestones.

It doesn't have to net you a great job to be worth celebrating.

It's basically 90% of a developing person's conscious life up to that point, it should be celebrated. And there are still lots of people who don't even get to that point unfortunately.

Graduation ceremonies in general annoy me. We're celebrating doing the absolute bare minimum. Such a waste of time, patting people on the back to make them feel special. Dumb.

How is it not? It is basically the end of your childhood. That is a pretty big milestone.

You need to get out more if you think thats "the bare minimum".

A high school diploma is required for basically every job that isn't minimum wage.

You need to get out more if you think thats "the bare minimum".

The alternative is quitting, which is doing less than the minimum. Once you commit to something at a minimum you're expected to finish it. We should be celebrating the people who graduated top of the class, and with various other achievements. A diploma by itself is just another participation trophy.

I think high school graduation is worth celebrating, even though it is sort of expected now. Elementary/middle school graduation celebration, however, is asinine.
