Final Fantasy XIV. The game has such an amazing story - especially for an MMO, which is just insane. It's also incredible amounts of fun and I always have lots of fun playing it with friends.

My favorite game is Mega Man X. Holds a lot of sentimentla value, as well as being a really fun game. Mega Man was actually one of the first games I ever played, and I still play them to tis day. Will pass them on to my kids eventually, too.

As for the game, I am interested in, I would say cuphead.

My favorite game of all time is probably Super Meat Boy. The controls are as tight as it gets, and the developer did a great job of teaching the player new techniques without any form of tutorial whatsoever outside of the first 3 or so levels. Great difficulty progression, and great fun overall.

Probably Banjo Kazooie, my reasoning is not just the nostalgia of it, but because it genuinely holds up after almost two decades. The controls are solid for the funky spaceship controller, the game was originally viewed as a cheap Mario 64 knock off, but the gameplay was more intricate than the former. All said and done, I still enjoy playing it once and a while which is something I don't generally don't bother doing.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - Admittedly it's largely fueled by nostalgia, but my memories are what make it my favorite. It was my first serious PC game and I played it to death. It was a large open world with so much variety, so many vehicles, so many things to do, and so much freedom. Had a good soundtrack, plenty of humor, the mods were fun, and I ran a SA:MP server with friends where we'd do our own stuff together. My home life was especially terrible at that time so it was a good escape for me.

My favorite video game is Chrono Trigger. I first played CT as a young teen on the PS1 and was hooked. It was my first RPG I completed and was obsessed with it for a while. The character's personalities, the cool time travel story, character designs by the creator of my favorite anime (DragonBall), and the gameplay was amazing to me.

tekken 5/DR.

the entry barely edges out the others in the series but overall it's because amongst all fighters today, tekken still has the most unique fighting system that for some reason hasn't been replicated with its approach to limb-based attacks(one button for each limb) as well as an immensely addictive and satisfying combo system.

A lot of people seem to have a problem with having someone's favorite video game be recent opposed to a classic, but I don't care, The Last of Us is my cream of the crop. Sure the graphics, story and voice acting are all aces, but I genuinely love the gameplay, especially on the harder difficulties with scarce ammo and tougher enemies. The stealth is super tense, the hand to hand combat just feels good, the gunplay is just over the should third person stuff, but with ammo so low and shots being so strong, each shot just feels important. Then the crafting system where you are just desperately scavenging around for scraps, but then have to choose between a health kit or a molotov? Wonderful. I was even surprised to find out how much I enjoyed the online as I pretty much never play online. It all just comes together in the most perfect package ever for me.

Skyrim

After about 700 hours I'm always finding new places, or discovering places I've been to before in different light. The variety of mods kept me coming back for more for years, and once I stopped fast traveling and started RPing the character, it brought fresh life into the game.

My Nord werewolf refuses to learn any sort of magic, so in the rare instance where magic is necessary I keep a few staves on me, which is a pain cause of the weight but it's better than tainting myself with that filth.

Divinity Original Sin 2, I love it because of how many times you can play through it differently, not only given how you can respond to dialogue differently, but with the different origins with their own backstories, side quests, reactions and motivations, as well as with original characters that you can shape how you wish. I like how there are "tags'' that result in different possible dialogues, and how through that, you can change how characters react and think of you. I also enjoy how there's the entire multiplayer aspect, where you can take between 1 and 3 friends, and pretty much take the story how you want, with the ability to roleplay if you'd wish. This is accompanied thorough the gamemaster mode, where it can also be played in a similar manner as tabletop games, with the gamemaster in control of the story. This isn't even mentioning the mod support, and how not only can you do mods that add cheat items or skill points, but mods that add abilities that otherwise would be locked to enemies only, as well as creating original abilities, and even balancing over/underpowered abilities too. Also people can make their own little campaigns which is a nice touch, allowing for way more playing then what would be in the base game for literally no extra cost, which is amazing considering how this is the age of dlcs.

Also you can play as skeletons.

Ignore when people say that the title length is not important, that a title should just convey what the game is about. They're just jealous theirs isn't as long

Link to the Past, it is the pinnacle of top down zelda games with a nice saturated overworld, plenty of dungeons and secrets. It also has great music and for an early SNES game the graphics were great and still hold up today

LittleBigPlanet 2

Was the first game I played that had a heavy focus on online or creation. Spent hundreds of hours playing co-op with my roomate and little bro, trying to figure out how to use the game's logic tools, diving into some of the weirdest parties, making cringy emo costumes, ect. It probably had a bigger impact on my life than any other game.

Silent Hill 2, because it tells a very good story about topics that are still pretty taboo today and relies on scares through symbolism rather than something jumping out at you.

Dark Souls. When I was younger I played a game called King's Field IV: The Ancient City (PS2). No one had heard of it. It certainly didn't hold your hand. But I pushed through the initial frustration and discovered a deep richness and rewarding dungeon crawler.

Fast forward until a few years ago, I had this game called Dark Souls in my backlog for years. I never got around to playing it because the PC port had awkward controls without a controller and I never pushed through the intro. One day I went through the hassle to get a controller to work and gave the game another try. It struck all the chords that King's Field did way back when: a rich, exploratory action RPG that did not give you instructions or hold your hand. It felt rewarding to overcome all the challenges. When I found out it was made by the same developer, everything suddenly made sense. I discovered my favorite genre or "formula." Subsequently played every other game in the series + other souls-esque games. I still crave more.

That's probably because From also made King's Field.

Riven, probably. It's really the only puzzle game I've played where the puzzles are integrated totally seamlessly into the world and story. There's nothing tacked on. Also the art design is great.

@TheOnionKnight

Congrats! Lemme know what game you want and what your Steam username is so I can gift it to you. If it's multiple games that add up to $30, that's fine too.

For everyone who didn't win, keep your eyes peeled for more rounds. I intend to do them fairly regularly.
