<_< It's just uncommon enough for me to forget that Visa Debit actually means that if you select it, you want to run the transaction as a credit, not a debit even though you're using your fucking DEBIT card. >_> Why the fuck would they change the option from Credit/Debit to Visa Debit/US Debit?

I don't understand any of that shit. In Canada, all we have are bank specific debit cards (directly debit out of your bank account). Anything that has Visa, Mastercard, Amex, etc.. is specifically a credit card.

All debit cards in the US have the option of being run as credit, primarily so that they can be accepted by vendors who can only process credit transactions. Problem is, the cards lack any of the protections a credit card would offer. If I swipe my Visa, the charge is pending for a few days and I have all sorts of fraud protections. If I run my bank debit card as credit, the money is pulled immediately from my account - if my card got hijacked I wouldn't have a clue that anything was wrong until I checked my account.
