I'm curious if you can get anything similar for the same price.

Directly comparable? No.
Indirectly comparable? Yes. Based on how long the base models were around we can assume next gen isn't coming for about 5 years. The system and cost of actually being able to use it will come out to $800 over it's lifetime. That's enough for a solid GTX 1070 and low end CPU like a G4560 since the CPU doesn't matter that much for higher resolution gaming. You should be able to run stuff at 4k or a bit under 4k at 30fps-60fps depending on the type of game and how well its optimized. --- "You need to lay off the peanut-butthurt and u-jelly sandwiches" - Neon Octopus ... If you try to put together a build that ticks off all the boxes in terms of One X features, you'll end up paying around $800 for a machine that meets all of the minimum requirements but is also much more versatile and upgradable.
As a general rule, PCs give you most bang for your buck starting between $800 - $1500, and the investment pays off over time as you reuse parts, slowly upgrade across generations, and utilize your machine for non-gaming apps. short answer- no
long answer- a pc with the same power will probably cost you around $700-1000 as mentioned. however you also dont need to deal with 30fps locked titles. you dont have to deal with paying for online. in general you get a LOT more with a pc that you dont get or severely limited in comparison in an X1X like any peripheral you want, full BC, exclusive titles(and several genres practically non-existent on consoles) and ps4/pc only titles along with mod communities and just in general you are getting a pc and everything you can do with that. theres going to be a premium there. its up to the individual if its worth those extras or not. --- Currently playing: Forza Horizon 3 - Dead Rising - Hitman ... How ghetto are you willing to go? You can get a refurbished office PC with a few year old i5 for like $150 or so and if you're willing to Jerry rig it get a GTX 1070 ($400) going in it if you're willing to cut the case or buy some riser cables and have the GPU somewhere else and that's about the price of an Xbox One X + the first year of XBL.
