Eh, I agree for the most part. They should've made weapons last a hell of a lot longer than they do.

Such a great game. It's probably going to be the first thing I play when I get a switch. The only time I had a problem with the weapons breaking was in the very beginning of the game. Once I got further into it I was leaving weapons on the ground because I didn't have room for them. I was also marking the shrines where you fight the guardians for weapons so I could go back to them when blood moons happened.

Yeah I would hold on to weapons for a long time because they were too good for random mobs, then I'd use it against a stronger enemy and it's like welp, bye weapon I've been saving for so long

The Legend of Zelda, from 1986, is still the best Zelda.
You've had thirty years, Miyamoto. What the hell, man?

I love this game so much too. There's so much rewarding of creativity and creative designs themselves. It's the perfect cooperation of the developer and the player. Honestly, I loved everything about it.

All I ever seem to do in this game is finding high ground and bomb-sniping.
I just have to assume I'm doing it wrong, because I did the same damn thing in all three Borderlands.

Weapon durability is p much never fun

Especially in a fucking Zelda game where so much of the series os based on getting memorable gear as you progress. Being late game and having to pick up a literal stick to wack the ancient being you're squaring up against because all your other shit broke is not fun or rewarding. At least make shit EASILY and readily repairable or replaceable, like damn.

An inventory full of sticks pretty much means "replaceable" right?

It's the best strat for weaker enemies. Once they start upgrading, it's really the first step to beating them, and you have to give them an old fashioned beatdown after. For Lynels, all that bombing and sniping shenanigans pretty much don't work. You gotta get good at dodging or simply just stasis and cheesing if you get lazy :P

Personally, I always had my inventory absolutely full of shit that I had to trash them all the time. Protip: If you mount something and hit them (like Lynels), your weapon does the damage but doesn't lose any durability. Very useful

Huh... I don't recall doing much of melee combat at all in Borderlands lol, nor freeze somebody's momentum

Wouldn't know.
Abandoned Zelda when I got brickwalled at a tower surrounded by wizzards and some sort of sharkmen.
Ignored plot. Fucked off and wandered around. Got dead lots.

If they all had electric weapons I know exactly what one you're talking about and I know I died there a lot too

Yes. That one.
It's a tower in a pond, with utter death in between.

Oh yeah the wizard are annoying. You gotta headshot them and wail on them with any weapon. Fire Mages can be one shot by ice arrows and Ice Mages can be one shot by fire arrows. I haven't played in a while, but pretty sure electric enemies don't have a one shot condition. But if electric comes in contact with water, it'll always create a big spark that makes you drop metal weapon

Another way around it? Use wooden weapons

Fucking RUN! has been my working theory for all of BOTW that I've played.

Incidentally, it worked reasonably effectively in 1986 as well. Also (very much also) in 1987.
"Fucking RUN!" is pretty much a tl;dr summary of Zelda 2.

Fuck that. Done.

Actually, I dicked around a bit more before playing the hell out of Wonderboy. Need to get back to Zelda, eventually.

I can't remember when I did it but it was still pretty tough.

Zelda is pretty punishing for exploring areas it doesn't want you to until later.

Yet still, it invites pecking around the margins, for doing thing you aren't supposed to do.

Almost 1986. Almost

It was really great playing it through for the first time, but I don't really feel much incentive to play it again. Whereas I still play A Link To The Past every couple years.

I play through LOZ two or three times a year, at least.

It's essentially the video game equivalent of The Dark Side of the Moon. Nobody really knows why or how, but it's somehow amazingly epic.

The problem is there's not a lot of direction but the game can be pretty punishing when you explore which is what it seems to want you to do.
