That's $36,000 per year, full time. Depends on age. If you're in your early 20s, that's fine. If you're in your early 30s, that's pretty sad.

You'd be surprised, man. I've worked with people of all ages at both of my full-time jobs, making much less than $18, from people barely old enough to be legal adults through the middle-aged and elderly. And it's not like these people aren't smart or educated or capable, but you have to realize that not everyone ends up with a "real" career that promotes advancement. For a lot of people those types of positions just aren't available.

When I was working freight at a sports store, the average salary among all of us was around $9-10 and some of these guys were in their 50s

I'd be happy with it. I worked at GS years ago and basically said "fuck it" when my dad had some paychecks bigger than the annual income I was reporting on my taxes... Gut punch.

I live in a really expensive area though, so it'd be less than ideal here but a lot of money in some places. The average house price is something like $600k right now. One three doors down from my parents went for $1.2M a few years ago, and prices just keep increasing. Even smaller townhouses start at about $450k.

I wish I could find a job here that paid 18 an hour. Nobody wants to pay more than 13 if you're lucky. Or have 4-12 years of schooling and even then maybe 18.

It depends on age. If you're 30+ and you can only command a semi skilled worker's wage, you need to get your act together. The company I work for hires completely green guys with no experience and no tools at $15.

Wow at the elitism here

If you can support yourself and you are happy, it is great.

And 18 is good pay for the USA, especially considering nobody wants to pay anyone decent wages anymore.
