Even for childrens shows, a good shocker can land in the middle of the narrative that either excites, scares or makes the children watching laugh out loud. Yet sometimes these revelations can have a darker side to them. In the show Spongebob Squarepants, there is a family connection between two characters that may shock viewers. Spongebobs pet snail Gary and his best friend Patrick are actually 1st cousins. Yeah, so Spongebob has made a pet out of Patricks cousin. Did Patrick move in next door and befriend Spongebob to find his cousin and free him, or did he sell his cousin to Spongebob? Or did these two characters go through life never knowing they were related? Maybe some family drama kept them separated, or one of them was considered the black sheep of the family.
