I.e. you get a new, better paying job and you start living it up so that your actual financial situation stays more or less the same.

I was really fucking poor at this when I first started working professionally and had few commitments. Lunch in cafes every day, drinks 3x a week, restaurants every fortnight or so, new toys.

I looked back one month and realised I'd spent over $200 on lunch that month. Just sandwiches and coffee. Fucking ridiculous.

Getting better at it, but I can still be a bit silly.
