I heard that it's an actual good shonen show about mages (hey if it's better than Fairy Tail, I'm on board), but my god is Asta not only generic and cliched, but he's a loud mouth bumbling idiot that manages to somehow be more annoying than Naruto. As seeing as how this is a shonen series, I'm not expecting him to change anytime soon, but I sure hope he does or I'm dropping it.

Yeah just watching the trailer, while I think Asta's dub voice sounds a little to old, it's certainly a much better improvement than his Japanese voice. I'm going to give the dub a shot now.

It's absolutely true. Asta is much, much more tolerable in the dub. Still corny, but what shonen protagonist isn't these days?

Black Clover borrows a lot from other anime, not just Naruto.

He wants to join the Magic Knight's Guild to go on adventures? Sounds a lot like the Fairy Tail guild.
He has a big-ass sword that seemingly appears out of nowhere? It's like Inuyasha's Tessaiga all over again.
In a world full of crazy magical abilities, his only ability is being able to negate other abilities? Is this Touma's Imagine Breaker?

But it brings all the ideas together in a way that has (so far) been pretty entertaining. It's shown enough to convince me to keep watching past 3 episodes.
