4 long years ago I bought my Yoga 2 pro with a QHD screen, 8GB of RAM, 256 GB storage, and the ultrabook core i7. It was $1,000.

Today, this laptop's successor is the Yoga 920. It has 8GB of RAM, 256 GB storage, and the standard core i7 ultrabook CPU. But this time it's a FHD screen and costs 1,330.

Oh, if you want that higher res screen? You pay between 1,700 and 2,000. Dell does the same shit. WTF.

So I thought, ok, I've always heard FHD is where it's at. No more scaling issues, more battery life, and no one actually notices all those extra pixels on a laptop screen, right? Wrong :(

Text on a FHD laptop makes my eyes bleed and gives me a headache. The pixelation on the text makes me feel like I'm using a computer from the 90s. I can't go back. Why the fuck has this tech gotten so much more expensive? I just needed to get this off my chest.

With smartphones encroaching on laptop prices, I think they're testing people with higher laptop prices.

4K is completely useless on a laptop anyway, don't get it. I made the mistake of getting it on my work computer (Dell XPS 15) and wish I hadn't.

Probably making up for selling less laptops too.

Why don't you like it? I've had it on my laptop for the last 4 years. I'm able to read text without getting eye strain/fatigue on 4k screens, which is why I need them.

Laptop screens have largely switched from TN to IPS panels. Also, G-Sync capable screens are pricey.

Well, in this case, my 4 year old high res yoga is IPS and the new yoga ain't G-Sync
