I asked a black guy from work who lives in a black neighborhood if he knew anyone who celebrated Kwanzaa.

Now I asked because I was curious about black culture but it was called into question. I was being pure when I asked and meant to offense, I was really just curious.

Looking back, I guess it was ignorant but I had no malicious intent.

I'm Jewish and if someone knew, I wouldn't be offended if they asked me if I knew any Jews who did anything of Jewish culture.

Ehh but all observing Jews celebrate Passover and Hannukah right?

Kwanzaa is, as far as I knew, more a West African descendent holiday. Not necessarily a black thing.

So ignorant yeah, if you only asked him because he was black/wouldn't have asked it to a non-black person but not racist.
