Super return of the jedi?

For the Super Nintendo. It was part of that system's naming convention to add Super to the front of titles.

use the charge attack? Jabba is stupidly easy as Leia

now the Rancor, that's impossible to beat as Luke. I always use Han

hold down the Y button until she flashes, let loose with a crazy-strong projectile

I spent FOUR HOURS trying to beat Jabba with Leia and she has a charge attack? I can't blame myself for not knowing about it. You have to hold Y for a solid 2 seconds and there's no visual indicator that she's charging an attack. She doesn't take a different stance. She doesn't glow. She just stands there until you've held it down long enough, then she flickers blue ever so briefly. Even after reading how to perform the move, I thought my copy of the game might have been an earlier release which lacked the charge shot.

I can't blame myself for not knowing about the attack or for assuming the worst when it comes to LucasArts. Like I said, there's nothing to imply that Leia is charging up for an attack. And the strategy for the rancor fight seems to be to switch to Han Solo. Winning with Luke is barely possible. It took 10 straight minutes of defensive strategy, after two hours of losses, to finally be able to eke by as Luke. For the most part, if there's someone better suited for the level that you could switch to, the programmers didn't care how impossible it was for another character -- even if that character was the most thematically appropriate.

people played as other characters besides Luke in that game? only when forced to do other people, and iirc Chewie was pretty baller

Wicket was great in his levels though

Wicket's ability to turn arrows into makeshift platforms was pretty innovative. To be honest, an entire game could have been built around that mechanic.

Haha yeah, it also took me a while before I realized she had a charge move. In her slave form especially, there's barely any flicker in her sprite

I never knew about the charge attack either. I've had the game since I was a kid too. I always used Han on the sail barge level. Never was able to get past the very last level where you escape the Death Star.

Not only is Leia a playable character, but her gameplay mechanics change depending on her outfit. She uses a blaster on Endor, fights with a staff when disguised as Boussh on Tatooine, and uses her chains like a whip when she's wearing her slave outfit.

Speaking of which, I just cut through the first boss using her charge attack. The last time I fought that boss, it took five minutes to beat it playing as Leia and I won by the skin of my teeth. The time before that, I got decimated. Here, I beat the mechanic eye in about 30 seconds and barely got scratched.

I can still fault the game for making you hold the Y button for two whole seconds without so much as a hint that there's a charge effect in play, but it a helluva powerful attack once she launches it.

I thought playing as Leia was like playing the game on hard mode, and to some extent it still is, but that attack is crazy effective in a boss fight.
