I don't even play Warcraft, and even I knew that a lot of people wanted to have the option to play on older builds of WoW.

I mean, there was a bit of brewhaha over Blizzard going after a private server that offered just that service a year or two ago.

now osrs has more players than RS3 and is continually growing

it's like the people who don't care or say it doesn't matter, are the people who didn't play wow back in vanilla

note that i did not play wow in vanilla, but i would resub to try it, as it seemed to actually encourage proper mmo standards (grouping up for quests, exploring the world, not standing in a town waiting to get into your 15th dungeon that day)

At least you know the ladder is going to reset. I've never really fucked around with that though. If the competition is being first/best/whathaves, okay there's a goal and then a reset. Is this going to reset? I doubt it.

It just seems like a pathetic attempt at reliving the glory days.

I played back then all the way up til WoD and during Pandaria I played on a private legacy server and well... while a lot of people were clamoring for it and I'm sure there will people that will jump on the classic thing early, it won't be sustainable.

You'll get some RP players who will play on the there, but the hardcore players and even the semi-hardcore guys won't latch on. There isn't any excitement, there isn't arena at 60, the raids are all tank and spanks, the story has been done, etc. The players who wanted it, 5, 6, even 7 years ago don't play anymore and to try and "get the gang back together" doesn't work, we all have kids and are doing other things now. Paying 15, hell even 10 dollars for old content isn't worth it. That's another reason a lot of those players went to private servers, they didn't want to pay the 15 a month to play.

You gotta remember, the things that made WoW Vanilla fun was the community, the memes that came out of it, the friends you made back when you were in high school and college, raiding til midnight, etc. That shit isn't fun for us adults that already played all of that content.

If they do make balance changes, fix exploits, etc, that's a ton of work. Maintaining and balancing one MMO is a huge undertaking. Two is just absurd.

nah, Vanilla WoW was easy to balance. Basically, every patch, you buff shamans, nerf paladins, and adjust a bunch of stats and talents by +/-0.1% at random and say things are balanced.

The issue with Warcraft RTS is that it's bad for esports and cannibalizes from Starcraft and it's harder to add loot boxes to an RTS although they're trying really hard.

I saw it on the game board here on gamefaqs. I think the person got the info from one of the novels. the Light is just the other extreme of the Void. there are planets where the Light has total control, and everyone is like a zombie. you might as well be dead. they are no better than the Void. so they have to be defeated

I may try it.

Most people complain about the lack of content in WoW. So why did people want to be stuck with old content forever? I hated getting stuck with the same raid for an entire year with SoO and HFC. I cannot imagine people sticking around after the nostalgia wears off.

Vanilla Raiding was amazing. I love tank and spank. Why do bosses have to have a bunch of stupid mechanics? SO stupid I have to memorize 50 different moves and each will wipe your raid.

Happens in Legion too. Waited 25 mins for a Tank to join, we summon, he sucks. Back to waiting. Legion Raiding and Dungeoning is a complete joke.

I don't know why in the hell anyone would want to go back to vanilla
