Physical books instead of e books.
CD's instead of MP3's.
Art supplies instead of photoshop.
etc

I'm most interested in the last one which is why I made this topic.

I can understand that there's no physical packaging in a digital title so it makes sense economically and environmental wise. Some of the novelty is worn off on having a digital copy.

Everything should be like how the movie studios do it. Buy the physical disc, and get a free digital copy.

There will always be a market for the physical version, because a lot of people would rather own something tangible instead of just a license to access the material.

Honsetly I just throw those codes away.

Movies are cheap enough that I don't think there's a lost, but if it was a full game you could just load of the digital copy for extra money.

I don't know, movies start at $35, which is about 50% cheaper, yet most include several redemptions. Like, if you buy a Blu Ray from Walmart, you get one desposited into your Vudu account, get a physical DVD, physical Blu Ray (sometimes an extra one for an extended cut), plus the actual digital redemption inside the case, which is usually good for 2 redemptions and with some studios 3.

I get where you're coming from, but it hasn't hurt the movie industry significantly.

Also, you should definitely give me those codes if you're throwing them away. I love digital movies.

Physical Books sales rose while ebooks sales fell this year for the first time in a long time.
Physical art supplies are seeing a massive resurgence right now because of 3D printing.

As for CDs, there is literally no advantage to them at this point and I worry if we'll be allowed to own music at all in the future since everything is moving towards spotify, last.fm, and pandora.

They're usually cheaper on Amazon than the MP3s, and sometimes you get the 'autorip' anyway.

there's definitely been a resurgence of vinyl in the last few years.
physical art isn't going to go away completely
I personally will never use an e-book. paper or nothing.
