Was unfortunately admitted to the hospital for 3 weeks due to a new diagnosis of a fairly rare medical condition. Having surgery in 2 days to hopefully fix the problem. While admitted had a ton of testing done because they had no idea what was wrong with me initially. One of the Brain CT scans showed signs of a metabolic injury (which it ended up being), or damage from drugs. One neurologist that saw me and essentially repeatedly pressured me to admit to doing drugs, which I had not. He was pushing it pretty hard, and it seemed like he was essentially trying to find an easy answer/solution to a problem he couldn't solve.

Once I got home, I put a basic review of him on ratemymd. Nothing rude or inflammatory, just stated how our encounter went, and how I felt he was there to pressure me to admit to doing drugs, which I had repeatedly said I hadn't. About 10 days later I got a letter in the mail from him initially half assidly apologizing for making me feel pressured, but ended the letter by telling me to think of a more constructive way to convey the information, and called me "an anonymous internet troll" for my review.

Question is, should I report this guy to the physicians college? 2 of my resident friends have already said I should. Would combine how he acted while I was in the hospital, with his letter. My question is, who the hell spends the time looking up a patients contact information, to send him a letter to call him an internet troll. Not to mention a patient with a new diagnosis that is waiting for surgery.

Dude sounds disturbed if he went through the trouble to do that. Report the prick. He's probably putting patients at risk

This sounds like breaking the Hippocratic Oath in a number of ways. Report him before his laziness ends up seriously hurting multiple people.

It's at least worth reporting to whatever hospital he works at.

However, those online review sites for anything to do with health are useless at best, and harmful at worst, and I don't think they provide anything of value. If someone has a conduct problem, it should be reported to people in a position to do something about it.

Thanks for the opinions guys. Currently leaning towards reporting, but will likely wait until I am discharged home from surgery in order to keep the stress down. Initially I thought his letter was purely to apologize which I was thankful for, but that turned to disbelief once I got to the final paragraph calling me an internet troll.

I was initially going to just report him to patient relations at the hospital I was at, but my 2 doctor friends recommended that I do it to the college of physicians. That way ill actually get formal responses from it.

I wouldn't do it because of all the trouble. However really thinking about you should. Him pressuring like that could have KILLED YOU. And the only thing that you did was told the truth. NO one should ever get messed with for telling the Truth. Funny as I type this message I get more and more upset at the situation.

That's originally what I was thinking, but then it kinda gets to me that, what if everything hadn't worked out properly as it did? What if something serious had been missed that would have had a serious negative effect on my health? It feels like if I do end up doing, its more to prevent it from happening to someone else.

I'm in medicine. Your address would be in the medical record to look up, which is where he probably got it, but that's hugely inappropriate to use for that purpose and absolutely a hippa violation.

Hell, contact the local newspaper and give them a copy of the letter. Thatll really get the hospitals attention.
