I feel like anyone saying Scott Tennorman doesn't watch South Park much. The NAMBLA episode went way further than that episode did for instance.

While I agree with the premise about the NAMBLA episode going further, people might not be using that as a criteria for why they like the Scott Tenorman episode. That's not indicative of how much a person has watched the show.

But there's plenty of other moments in the show that are even crazier than that like the joke about how Cartman got his sea monkeys

I do agree and completely forgot about this episode.

Man the first like 3 seasons have really not aged well, not just from a technical standpoint, but the humor is mostly just worse than it is now and from every season like 4 and up.

Season 20 kinda sucked but overall the quality of the show is still wayhigher than it was in its early seasons.

I agree that the first three seasons have aged pretty terribly. They're not very representative of what the whole show is at all anymore. Its just potty humor and swearing.

What did you not like about Season 20? I just rewatched it and still thought it was funny the whole way through. All the stuff like Mr Garrison trying his hardest to lose the election, Cartman and Heidi becoming a couple, Gerald trying to hide his internet trolling from his wife (which leads to him getting peed on by her), Butters fighting for boy's rights, Ike having to type mean comments in his father's place, and it all led up to the crazy climax where they blow up the Troll Trace tower. It was all pretty fun.

The reason I said this is because people usually mistakenly point to that episode as the furthest the show ever went and that's the reason they say it's their favorite.

It just seems like and forgive the lack of a better term the most "casual" answer to give because everybody's seen that episode and while it was cool just to see them push it to that level, there's almost zero real humor in that episode which is why I don't care for it.

Other episodes mentioned in this topic like the Asspen episode are satirical masterpieces and they get lost in the fold and it's kind of a shame tbh.

The problem with season 20 was that they became way to focused on the serialization of the season and the overarching plot became a cluttered mess so much so, that they completely left certain aspects of it completely unresolved.

For instance *season 20 finale spoiler*

The member berries had this whole subplot where there was like a whole mafia berry kidnapping berries and stuff and they don't even mention the berries at all in the finale and they just showed one shot of them at the end of the episode and give no reason for them or explain anything about them or resolve their plotline in any way at all.

Season 19 was cool, and even to a lesser extent season 18 but season 20 just kind of tried to do too much. They even kind of satirized that in the last episode themselves with Kyle's speech in that episode as they were themselves aware of the fact that it got really crazy.

They also completely were just betting on Hillary winning the election and had whole plots planned out for that which had to be scrapped and rewritten which led to the craziness that the season became and they admitted so themselves, which is why they decided to go the opposite way again with season 21, which has been good so far only opinion.

Season 19 though I think was just a perfect season and I don't know if they'll ever strike that balance of serialized episodes without becoming too plot driven again, but hopefully they'll figure it out again.
