I liked it, but it felt like it relied on cheap drama far more than the first season did. You had conflict and drama between characters in the first, but it felt more natural and like there was some sort of payoff to it. Here, a lot of it seems to just happen for the sake of having something happen or purely to pull emotion out of the viewer, plus there're more "idiot ball"-type moments.

Bob's death was so bullshit I'd drop half a point for that alone, it's like they realized they made way too likable a character for Joyce to dump him to hook up with Hopper like they were telegraphing in the first season, so they just had to plain kill him off.

I was warned about Episode 7 but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. There really wasn't much in it that was needed for this season, though it did leave some breadcrumbs that might be interesting in the future. As it is, you could probably skip it and the flashbacks in Episode 9 would be enough for all you need to know.

I liked Max, but it felt like she was pretty much just there to give Lucas something to do and to have a girl on the kid team, with how detached her plotline is from everything else. Speaking of characters being there just to give others to do, Joyce and Mike felt barely present for a lot of the season despite pretty much being the main characters of the first.

Steve somehow became the most based character in the show. But he pulled his shit together by the end of the first season, so it's not too surprising. But basically any scene with him starting with Dustin enlisting his aid in finding Dart ends up gold.

In general, it felt like the season picked up more with Episode 4. The first three episodes are pretty drawn out and at times painful with its drama, in intentional and unintentional ways.

I don't mind the direction they went this season being more "grand" in what goes down, but I'm worried they're gonna keep trying to one-up themselves because keeping the mystery more small scale was part of the charm the first season really had.

I wonder what they're gonna do with John's actor being banned from the US or whatever. Episode filmed in the UK where he dies elsewhere?

Those are just what was on my mind at the end.

Yeah, Bob's death was pretty cliche, but it's really the only one of three parts of the season I didn't like (the other two being Dustin keeping Dart and them doing nothing with Billy's character).

But yeah, the season was more focused on the characters dramas and such than season 1 was, which...is fine, I suppose, since I like all the characters. But I suppose they def could've balanced it better with the "creepy shit" people liked from S1.

StevexDustin really was the best thing that came out of S2, though, and Steve is just a great character in general.

I feel like Jonathan's actor's thing is prob not gonna be a big deal, though.
