do people actually "scream" when something scares them? that doesn't seem like a natural reaction to me. my actual reaction is to tense and freeze up for the split second, and then utter "oh, fuck" in relief once I realize it's nothing.

the most intense scares I've had are usually unintended by the game, and are cases where I've done something like looked away at the wrong moment only to look back at something completely unexpected.

the very first time i played wind waker, i got to that first room in dragon roost cavern with the two bokoblins, except i guess my tv's brightness or colors were weird because i couldn't see them at all, only hear them, and get attacked by them. that scared me so bad i turned off the gamecube and didn't touch the game for months

While playing Minecraft, on several occasions, I've had a Creeper come up behind me and explode. I jumped because I didn't see it, and I wasn't expecting it.
Damn Minecraft! Scariest game I ever played!

Resident Evil 7 (multiple times)

Outlast 1 & 2 (too many times to count)

Alien: Isolation (anytime the Alien would rush me)

Resident Evil 4 (the guy bursting out of the fridge)

Resident Evil Remake (the spiders, as an arachnophobe)

Until Dawn (every single jumpscare except the lame projector one)

I'm sure there's many more. I'm a wuss.

Only one: Fallout 3. And im so glad no one saw that.

I was just playing around normally, going through some part of the city with super mutants. When I was turning, I thought I saw some motion at the edge of the screen. Thinkign it was another mutant I turned around.

There was a Vertibird, so close it filled up my screen. I screamed out in surprise.
