Most games chosen by the Backloggery Fortune Cookie.

Just beat Metal Gear Solid (PS1) -- 3/10 It says it took me 17:05:30 to beat it. Beat it on Normal difficulty. Ended up with Code Name of Shark, whatever that means. Got what I believe is the good ending.

I seriously disliked this game. I really can't say there was any point in the game where I was actually having fun or enjoying my experience. I've always disliked those stealth sections in other games where you'd have to wait for guards to be looking away and then sneak by them, and just about the entirety of this game is doing this. I found the boss battles up until the end boss sequence to almost all be simply tedium. The end boss sequence was just awful, especially when it got down to the fistfight (I don't know how many times I'd run up to him, end up being slightly to his side, and as a result miss on all my punches and kicks) and Jeep sequence.

Something about the people in-game telling you to push buttons on your controller, changing controller ports, etc. just seems really out of place for a game that's seemingly going for realism (I think this might be an example of what people call "breaking immersion"). The twitchy character animations and lack of mouth movement outside of the Codec communications when they're talking was pretty bad. The inability of using more than one item at a time makes absolutely no sense -- I'm pretty sure you could equip a gas mask and still use a key card, for example.

This will be the only Metal Gear game I ever envision myself playing.

No human in existence, past, present, or future has ever or will ever be able to use those two items at the same time!!!

I feel exactly the same way. ^.^; (But if anything, even more so?)

I've never played that one -- the series has just always sounded totally uninteresting to me whenever it's been mentioned on these boards -- and, thank you ^.^ it's nice to know that there's someone who feels likewise.

Just not my kind of game. ^.^;;;

Crash wins.

During the meanwhilst, I knocked out Pong -- 6/10, based solely on 1-player. I won a best of 5 series against the CPU, 3 games to 2.

I'm going out on a limb and assuming everyone here knows what this game is about and how involved it is. The biggest knock is that you can't move the paddle all the way to the top of the screen, while the ball can, making it impossible to return some shots. I ended up scoring about 5 consecutive points because the next serve starts from the net and it just got hung up serving to that spot -- I wasn't trying to be cheap, it just happened and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it except wait, hoping it stops serving to that spot. If you also manage to get the ball to go horizontal along the bottom of the screen, you can just sit there forever hitting it directly back and forth without moving your paddle. I found that about the only way to score against the CPU (other than the top of the screen, cheap way) is to hit the ball with the edge of your paddle because the CPU doesn't move fast enough for the sharp angle, and really only returns them by chance. It is a definite plus that after a few volleys, the ball does start going faster. Because of this, the game is a little tough since the window between losing a point and hitting that spot on either side of your paddle is pretty small.
