Use private bittorrent trackers. Never used a VPN and the only time I got a notice was when I had to use a public one to get, of all things, Age of Empires 2 for a work friend. Glad they used their resources to detect and warn me for a 50 year old game

For music: Redacted, TorrentLeech
For PC applications/Audiobooks/Educationalstuff: Torrentleech

I'm not sure I can really help you with invites, these sites are strict with who joins, and I had invitation privileges revoked due to inviting a random message board person and then they previously had a banned account on the private tracker (huge no no), as well as having multiple RL friends just not seed stuff. Seeding isn't that hard, and if your internet is slow, maybe grab a seedbox for a month for insane upload speeds to get a large buffer. BitGamer.ch was the site I migrated to after my account at another Gaming tracker was disabled due to inactivity and I used a seedbox for a month to buff my ratio (as well as on other sites) and this was the result Certain trackers are harder than others to build ratio for different reasons. BitMe.TV is known as the most difficult to seed because their uploaders are insane and have new episodes of TV shows up within minutes, if that, of the show ending due to scripts they have set up to encode while it airs, and people set up RSS feeds on 1000mbit upload seedbox connections to immediately grab and download/seed episodes of popular new shows. It was honestly legitimate fun building my ratio on that site with a seedbox, because you kind of gotta research what shows get the most downloads and which format of the uploads are best to get, then hope you get in early enough to get a large chunk of data to immediately seed. Sorry for rambling on, a bit baked and private torrent trackers are fun.

Force encryption in your settings. If that's not enough, either get a VPN or even better (in the case of private trackers) a cheap seedbox to download and seed on (the one I used was 500gb of storage, 1gbps connection) and then FTP the files from the server to your computer. FTP traffic wouldn't look shady at all

Get into one of those, and build a good ratio, then use that as proof that you're capable of seeding and you'll likely be able to snag invites to trackers that will fit your every need

The only thing forcing encryption does is prevent your ISP from throttling your torrents.

Yes, your ISP can throttle torrent traffic if they see fit, but they can't see the data you download, that would be a major breach of privacy. You typically receive letters like this from dummy torrents on private trackers uploaded by the RIAA/MPAA to obtain IP info from those who download it and forward it to the ISP. It's a really quick, painless process to forward a DMCA notice. That's why private trackers are the way to go, you can't make a dummy file if upload rules are very strict and limited to trusted users. The uploaders have scripts written to monitor TopSites and Newsgroups (where scene releases are distributed) and the moment one is uploaded it's automatically grabbed, and reuploaded to the private torrent site, really unlikely they could get a dummy torrent uploaded even if they would be able to get in.
