I'm looking into the idea of getting smart lighting for my place. But I'm concerned about always keeping the wall switches on, since I always turn them off when they aren't in use.

So can I save money/ electricity by shifting to smart lighting.

I've heard old wives tales that there's a point where it takes more energy to turn lights on and off than just leave them on if you're going to be constantly turning them on and off (like walking in and out of a room a few times within a few hours). Idk how true that is though.

It's true for Incandescents but not for LEDs as far as I'm aware

Idk about the smart lighting part though

At the very least, moving to LED lights would be cost effective?

That would be the best and only substantial cost saver. you can leave a standard led bulb on 4/7 and it would only cost a penny or two per day

Mythbusters did an episode on this.
They found that the energy jump used to turn a light on was insignificant
