I mean, if the kana come out as they should anyways, it shouldn't matter, right? I don't get it. I mean back when I started class, my instructor pretty much forced it on us and here I am still trying to catch myself and stop going out of order.

If you have the wrong stroke order you'll never accomplish a satisfactory deed. Stroke order is paramount. It's the back bone of any good deed.
