Which One?

OK, so I'm beginning to put together my first eBook/Novel...Right now I'm just putting together a short prologue story/preview to the main book.

I would like to add a list of the Cast of Characters...where should it go? In the beginning (before the story) or at the end (after the story)?

Seems like a weird thing in general, would be more fitting in a playbill

I suppose the front though

Nowhere, unless it's written as a script or play

Feel like any time I've seen that, it's in the beginning of a book, though I usually skip straight to the story so it's all a surprise.

Almost every book that I've read that did stuff like that would put a synopsis of Characters and events/important terms at the front. That way readers who pick up the story late, or who haven't read the series in a while can refresh themselves.

The exception is the inheritance cycle, which put all the words at the end iirc because Paolini basically made a dictionary.

It does seem a little strange to list your characters out for your first book/volume though, it takes away from the initial impact of the character.

Ok, thanks guys...I'm new to this eBook/Graphic Novel type thing. So I guess I will leave it out.

I probably will just put it on the site instead.

A song of ice and fire has one organized by house at the back of the book.

Only time I've seen characters listed in a book is the Game of Thrones series. They listed those by "House" in the back.

This. Fantasy and scifi books with tons of characters always list the who's who in the back, if they list at all. Most of the time, a list is completely unnecessary.

some books do this with lots of characters. lord of the rings for example. dragonriders of pern is another series that does it. could name a few more off the top of my head.

definitely put it at the end though.
