Didn't see CE freaking out about this, wanted to share. Mind you, if any man did this as blantantly as this chick, there would be a storm.

What does CE think of this? Is it OK to sexualize andsexually harass women if you are a lesbian?

katy perry's entire career has been about her tits, she was shooting shit out of them in the california girls video lol. that was her whole gimmick and she knew it.

then last year i guess her PR team realized that was not a good look in post "grab her by the pussy" america and made katy perry shave her head and become a feminist, and now all of a sudden ellen is some kind of monster here for making a joke about katy's image for the last 10 years?

No, she's not a monster for this.

But I think it's right for people to call out the double standard because a man would be labeled a monster for this.

Ellen has gotten away for years with being creepy around her hot female guests. People see her as nonthreatening and a comedian so she's given a pass. At least IMO.

These are exactly it though. Why is it OK for someone like her to get away with this? A male counterpart would definitely be taken off the air immediately for pulling something like this. The comment, ok, maybe you can brush it away, but the pictures is what really stands out to me. Perry may suck, but she kind of looks uncomfortable in those pix. Lol.

I'm not saying she's a monster, but when you take the frontlines and state things like men objectify women and all men are pigs for harassing women and making shauty comments is the wrong thing to do to women, and then you go and pull this...I mean..its extremely hypocritical, and debases any faith in those like myself who stood on neutral ground.

I never cared much for ellen one way or the other, thought she was kind of funny, but this is over the top.

How? What happened is that a femenist who preaches how wrong men are all the time, objectified a woman on social media. That's pretty cut and dry. As a male, I want equal treatment. If a male would face reprocussions for saying/doing these things, I want a female to be held accountable in the same exact regards.

By the way, listen to Ellen tear into men here:

This is not a male thing or a female thing, it is not a Hollywood or political thing, this is a human thing and it happens in the workplace, it happens in families, it happens all over the world and we are all the same, she said. We all want the same thing, we want respect, love and kindness. And if I could have those three things and an iPhone X, Id be happy.

OMG. She EVISCERATED men with that statement.

So again though...the whole point of this. If a male figure did this, there would be severe reprocussions. Are you both saying "Yes, 100% there would be reprocussions for a male counterpart acting/saying/doing the exact same thing?

I'm just posing the question. She didn't offend me. However, with all the sexual harassment stuff going on, why would you do something like this? And why is it OK for her, but not OK for people like stephen colbert (Sorry, I don't know many hosts, I personally dislike colbert just using a name as an example) or any other tv show host.

Another point here is that they are well known friends.

In a similar manner to my previous point, you might get to a point where your really close black friends don't mind you saying the n word in certain contexts. Like as a joke, to which they understand your intent (or lack of intent). That wouldn't give you a license to go and say it to whoever, though.

Didn't see this post. Thanks for pointing it out pink.

I have not forgotten. The correlation though is irrelevant. This isn't about race or even gender. This is simply about equality. It doesn't seem like there would be equal reprocussions.

This is absolutely about gender, which is clear to everyone when the argument starts with "but if a MAN did it".

If I'm honest, I think you're avoiding the point because you understand on some level that there's a clear difference between a black person and a white person saying the n-word, but don't want to apply similar logic to the difference between a man and a woman making a joke about breasts.

Also female friends making jokes about breasts, to be clear.

At best you could say the timing is a little insensitive timing-wise and the comment crass, and I think that's all you've really got. They're mates, and she made a sassy joke to her friend. That's the entire thing in a nutshell.

Rather than directing your anger at this, why not focus on something more like how men who are sexually abused are taken less seriously? I think that's a fair and genuine point of concern of the kind of unfair treatment that men receive.

What you should gather is that context is important to whether something is acceptable or not, and purposefully distorting the context so you can paint yourself as some kind of victim over something that has nothing to do with you just makes you sort of look like a bitch. And I'm sure you're not a bitch, but just telling you how that looks right now.

I'm not distorting anything. I'm plainly saying that if ANY male on television posted a strikingly similar photo of a female "friend" or counterpart with those words, the male would be in deep water. Am I right or wrong on this?

Regardless of if they were friends or not, or even had permission to do so. I understand the context completely, but why feel the need to post something like this for the world to see, during all these allegations? Why couldn't she send her friend a private message? Why couldn't she just leave it at a formal in person happy birthday comment?
