To be fair a likable good guy character who survives on dumb luck is actually a somewhat common thing whereas a presumably competent bad guy repeatedly surviving on dumb luck isn't and I feel there's probably a reason for that.

Fair enough.

I'm not really trying to defend show Negan, to be fair. My point is just that "The main bad guy didn't die in the first episode of the current story arc like I wanted him to" is less against the character and more... Why were you expecting the main bad guy to die in the first episode of the current story arc.

The reasons for wanting him to die are likely valid, but

I kinda agree that a character being stuck in dumb situations is more on the writing of the show overall being bad and not the character, but DC is also claiming it happened multiple times so yeah I dunno. There does become a point where it becomes suitable to start docking the character for it, particularly if it starts becoming the norm for them rather than the exception.

To be perfectly fair, while I didn't see this latest episode that he's referring to, the "magically blocks bullet with bat" is less... Him magically blocking a bullet with his bat and more... Angry chick has terrible aim. It's not really like he's getting shot at multiple times and one happens to hit the bat instead of him. He's typically standing with the bat on his shoulder/near his head, and she basically whips a gun out and tries to shoot him in the head, so. That one's definitely more on the other character than him.

Also at this point the story arc has been going on for over a season now. I could see your point if I wanted him to die at the Glenn scene, but no, as of now we've had a solid year of waving bullets out of the air, scooting out of tiger attacks, falling on his ass away from Zombie Sasha ambush, as of this last episode Rick training a gun on him and getting pulled away for what amounts to another character going "Not the season finale yet, dude!". Really now

Yet you're okay with Glenn escaping death like, 17 times? >_>

You're being a bit unfair. For one, I don't really think "Falling back/away from zombie out of surprise" is DEM, but if it is, then literally every character on the show has had it happen multiple times

Glenn was basically on death's door from disease that was killing less important characters in waves in S4 to the point his actor tweeted out a fake goodbye, and then was just fine.

Glenn was in "How will he get out of this sure death?!" situations so many times

Which, like said... I'll be fair. There are reasons to hate Negan/want him dead/etc.

I just think counting "He didn't die when it looked like he might" against him isn't a great reason.

I actually just watched that scene with Rosita again and...it's somehow even worse than I was thinking. Negan has the bat hovering around like a half foot to the side of his face, Rosita draws pistol, aims, shoots. Jump cut. Now he has the bat vaguely in front of his face with a bullet in it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRkQSXTa_9E&t=0m40s

...so there are two ways that scene could have played out. Either Rosita (up until this point one of the more competent people on the show) somehow blew a shot from ten paces against a guy standing completely still and hit somewhere to the far left of his head. Orrrrrrrrr Negan just happened to be waving the bat around in Negan fashion, drifted it in front of his face and blocked it that way by accident

I don't think they were trying to make him out to be a Jedi, so...yeah.

Yup!

The dude isn't wearing armor or a vest. He's not standing behind a car or a wall. He's holding/waving a bat around his head

...So she shoots at literally the only part of him that has any kind of defense in front of it whatsoever.

That's definitely on her being an emotional dumbass at that moment. >_>

Granted, the entire point of that scene is part of a "She's completely irrational at this point" theme with her, so it makes sense.
