Malak was illustrated as weaker than Revan. Everyone knew it, including him.

I just don't like the idea of them using the title Darth 3000 years before Bane came up with it. People need to educated themselves before the get into the EU.

But it's all hogwash now so I guess it's not a big deal.

to be fair Revan was above everyone. Malak was, if not stronger than the masters were. even managed to kill most of them on his own .
There was no way he could take on Revan fairly. If I remember correctly it was Revan who took Malak's fucking jaw off

So knowing this, he did what he could..which was all cowardice, backstabbing. cheap tactics, and straight up theft of the star forge.

That worked for him. and, for awhile, he succeeded

Overrated tbh. Combat was garbage and I really think the story would have had more of an impact if they set up the twist properly.

I still sorta wish we could have seen how Revan and Malak were during the Mandalorian Wars. Their relationship sounds pretty interesting.

The twist was set-up extremely well. It's all but spelled out for you at times.

that's sort of the problem. Not really a "twist" when they give it away multiple times super early into the game. I play games like that and I can never tell if the devs just think they're more clever than the rest of us, or if they don't care about a "got ya!" twist and just want to tell a good story.

But I like twists so when they go the latter route I'm always a bit bummed

It was a twist for the majority of players. Just because the signs are there doesn't mean people know how to read them.

If anything the best twists are ones that shock you but seem obvious in retrospect.

hell yeah. Didn't Revan and Malak's fall to the Dark side happen during the war?

If you watch the flashbacks, notably the one on Dantooine Malak is much, much more timid and careful. Worried about Revan's plans, worried about the Jedi Code and that what they were doing was forbidden.

Can't help but think Malak might've been a pretty nice guy had he not followed Revan..which is tragic in itself

The combat was what it was. Kotor is about the world, story and characters

also the twist blew my fuckin mind harder than any other twist ive ever seen

How could you possibly guess that they used the damn Force to erase someone's mind? They mentioned being able to do that once, a few other hints on dantooine but no one picked up on that shit the first time man. Idk. I was young so maybe i was dumb but it got me hard.

agreed. Which is why I was underwhelmed. They give it away in like the first flashback an hour into the game lol.
