On the subject on essays, I do not like essays because they are hard to write. Essays involve a thesis topic, at least three examples proving the thesis topic and also include arguments against your thesis and debunk them. One of the reasons why essays are hard to write is that it can take a long time to come up with an idea. You need to spend time researching the subject at hand. And then you have to fill up five to ten pages of space. On the other hand, essays are easy to write if you have inspiration and a exquisite vocabulary. If you like research and have good things to write about, essays are easy. However, you have to write things in your own words which can be tricky in describing something scientific or hard to comprehend.

Essays are easy. People go about it the wrong way. It's not about coming up with arguments and defending it. It's about saying what your marker wants you to say and hitting all the key points. Scoring high is easy even if you are not a very good writer since style is usually not worth a lot of points (unless you are in some sort of writing class). Just know who's marking the paper and what he/she thinks are important points.

group projects aren't bad if you actually get a group that works together and has no weak links. but that doesn't happen often.

Eh.

Once in highschool, I had a 5 page essay and kinda misread the question, I forgot the question but I think I wrote the essay about MMA pay, and then changed it to MMA healthcare/injuries or something like that, so when I finished my essay I just changed a few things here and there, grabbed some rando sources and turned it in, gotta 83 I think? Around there anyway.

Yes, I hate having to do them. Worse yet, I loathe having to write essay-long responses to someone else's bullshit, even citing my sources, only to have the idiot say my response is speculation, hearsay, or a bunch of lies, and then, at best, they list sources that don't explain a single damn thing; or, in some cases, they'll list a source to a conspiracy nut piece or blatant speculation without any merit.

Like, dude, none of us really like to be wrong (save for obvious trolls), but there gets to be a point where you just make yourself look like an ass. Stop. Even if your goal is to be an ass (in an unoriginal manner at that), just stop.

In a corollary to this point, I have seen cases in high school during the turn of the millennium where someone put so much time and effort into their paper, got less than a passing grade, and revised it with an hour or two's worth of talking out their rear end... and scored almost perfectly. This was during a really stupid thing my district in SoCal had back then--that was forced on us no less, or we wouldn't graduated, starting the year before me--called Senior Project. Half of the judges were parents or other members of the community, many of whom didn't have the intellectual capacity to instruct anyone how to tie their shoelaces let alone grade a well-researched paper written by a high school student. Just . . . good gods!

I just called it fluffing because I thought fluff and format sounded good, otherwise, you're right, it is BSing. Also, I tend to avoid using the rearrange thing since plagiarism programs are getting better and better, I would hate to get caught and lose my degree later on just because I tried to cheat early in school.

as said I completely re worded the sentences. not just a word or two. and when you write a essay thats essentially what you are doing any damn way, just retelling the same BS someone else already has but with your own words.

One time I wrote an essay about a book I read.

The book was so boring I couldn't even remember half of it. I was as sarcastic as I could possibly get, and the whole essay was praising the book for its "intellectual prowess".

Apparently, it was so beautiful my teacher almost cried. I couldn't bring myself to tell them I didn't even remember what the story was about.

reminds me of the time I got a 100 on a test for a book I didn't read. teacher made the whole test true or false, and I guessed my way through it based on what I thought would make a more compelling story.

i've always been good with tests for some reason (math excluded) even when I had no fucking clue. once during a final I fell asleep and woke up with 5 minutes left and literally just jotted down random answers for the last 25 questions out of 100 and still made a good score.

Persuasive Essays? Not really, annoying to make (especially if I have to persuade in favour of a view I disagree with) but okay.

Analytical Essays? They're fine, probably the easiest type of essay. Just got to remember to follow the right ordering (and explain WHY author wants so and so)

Expository Essays? Like analytical, the easiest type.

Narrative/Creative Essays? Get out of here with that stuff.

So 3/4 of the main types I like, and whilst I haven't done any for over two years I was pretty good at them, although much preferred Context styled essays as opposed to 'make it about this one book/movie/thing'. For my Year 12 exam I had quotes from Great Gatsby in the same essay as quotes from a (non-fictional) deranged murderer who believed themselves to be a god. XD

Essays are great. I think more people should speak in essay form.

The supporting paragraph structure of an essay really helps to show the thought process for the position that a person has taken. With this another person can easily assess where the weak and strong points are. As opposed to a repeated back a forth before the two parties gain a working understanding of each others views.

In less structured forms of communications the people involved may lose interest in continuing the conversation. Opting instead to assume that anyone who disagrees with them is just wrong . Essays provide a means for an expedient and concise discourse.

The summary part of an essay efficiently demonstrates how several ideas come together. This creates a more complex and dynamic position than simply stating ones position alone. This makes the discussion of an issue more compelling and engaging.

The essay form provides methods for outlining ones thought process, efficient communication, and a more robust exchange of ideas. That's what makes essays great.

I'm a senior in college...essays are piss easy 90% of the time. Most students suck at it, so professors grade on that curve. If you are able to string sentences together in a semi competent way, you're good. It could also be a lot worse, I was a chem major for a while and that is way harder. You have to actually know things.

i'm pretty damn good with memorizing things, maybe because I understand it? idk but I aced almost all science and history classes I ever took, math was where I struggled and sometimes with english but mostly when we got involved with the sentence dissecting shit, or analyzing why the author of a story had blue curtain in one fucking scene.
