They light the cigarette, take like two drags, and then put it out.

Wtf? I've never been a smoker, but that seems like such a waste.

I've seen it so many times in stuff like Twilight Zone, Hitchcock movies, bunch of stuff from the 40s. It's almost a complete stick, and they just toss it.

Because editing a scene where someone is smoking is a nightmare for consistency, so they don't bother with it.

I have this weird thing where I always watch in a show or movie if they swallow their food after chewing.

A lot of scenes actually do have the actors put the food in their mouth but I never see them swallow, and I remember seeing this one behind the scenes movie where actors chew food like a pizza and then spit it out after the take is done. They never swallow the bite.

well that actually makes sense
multiple takes would probably make them get really sick after awhile if they actually swallowed the food they were chewing
