What I got: A god damn detective game with fetch quests up the wazoo

Dayum, I'm still rather engrossed (until when, time will tell) but this isn't what I expected at all.

I'm already feeling a little burned out from all the running around & talking to people to solve the mystery.

It's like a noir detective game with some combat in between.

Btw, after reading a guide, I realised I accused all the wrong people and may have killed an innocent man. I'm supposed to be a monster slayer lol, not some master detective.

Witcher 1 is a bit of a slog by modern standards (especially opening the tower) but it's pretty memorable.

Witcher 2 is great, play Roche path if you want a revenge quest and the elf dude if you want something happier but which doesn't matter due to what happens between W2 and W3

I'm only at chapter 2/6 do far. I would say don't expect a lot of action, it's about talking to the right people and carrying the right items at the right time.

BTW, the enhanced edition has decent graphics comparable to current gen games.

Why not go straight to W3? Or even W2. Skip W1.

it "ain't worth playing anymore"? I've heard so many people having a blast with the game in recent times, just like people have been loving it since the day it came out. The game is a classic, polarizing maybe.

I believe it was CDPR's first game, and it really shows. I enjoyed it when I played it, but I would totally get anyone who found it difficult to get through for any number of reasons.

good on you TC for going through 1 when pretty much everyone says it's not worth it. once you are playing 2 and 3 and you are familiar with the characters and are able to pick up on little things that fly right by casuals' heads, i guarantee you will think to yourself it was worth it.

also if you are only on chapter 2, don't worry, it picks up the pace a little bit in chapter 3.

Thanks, I hope by playing the games chronologically I can appreciate the sequels more. That's how I felt when I play through the Shadowrun Returns games.

Chapter 2 in the Witcher 1 is a mess. Chapter 4 might be one my favorite moments in gaming though. The atmosphere of it is perfect.

as said ch2 is the slog of the game. also be prepared for a lot of back and forth and detective style quests in the whole series. thats just part of what the witcher series is.

About 3 hours into chapter 3, still a lot of talking and running errands, but this time there's some good fights mixed in too so it doesn't feel as much of a slog as chapter 2.

My favorite part of Witcher 1 is avoiding the bullshit of the Squirrels and Roses, Geralt has a still where he's like "I defied the world. I stayed neutral." And when The Wild Hunt tries to give you shit you can straight fuck him off

It's important to play Roche path in 2 because it's way more impactful than the other, the other isn't as emotionally charged imo

2 and 3 are a lot better than 1. 1 feels like a poor man's diablo, but I enjoyed the story.
