Or at least the big publishers seem to think they are.

Sony, Nintendo and Bethesda seem to be the only companies remaining who really give them their full effort and treat them seriously. But how long will that last?

I wonder how many single player games with no post-launch DLC or microtransactions will even get developed anymore.

Prey and Wolfenstein 2 seem like traditional single player games to me. Although Wolfenstein 2 does have a season pass I guess. Just sounds like a traditional expansion pack though.

I think JRPG's like Persona should be fine. As far as I know those games aren't too crazy budget wise. Hell Persona 5 is playable on a PS3.

Not sure about games like Nier and Nioh though. Maybe it hasn't fully caught on in Japan yet or maybe they can avoid it with lower budget games.
