Rereading the books and rewatching the show lately and damn he really nails the whole deadpanning sociopathic thing.

Dude's up there with Sean Bean and Peter Dinklage

"You haven't heard? Stannis Baratheon laid siege to King's Landing. Sailed into Blackwater Bay, stormed the gates with thousands of men.....and your sister......oh, how can I put this? Your sister.....

...is alive and well. Your father's forces prevailed."

Roose is one of my favorite characters from the book.

Tywin is probably my favorite from the show.

He's one of those 'not at all how I pictured this character' actors and had a rocky intro in S2, but he did a good job making the role his own from S3 onward. Pity that he was yet another titan to unceremoniously fall to a knife sneak attack x100 critical hit.

the books have a bizarre portrayal of him: on one hand he is quiet and thin and regularly has his blood drawn.

on the other he's clearly a capable warrior given his actions, so i think the show finds a good balance between the two
