It wasn't as bad as I'd heard. I read some of the books many years ago, so I'm in that sweet spot where I remember some names and characters, but forgot enough details that nitpicking was pointless. Idris was pretty good as usual; Matt MacConaughey's makeup made him look like bacon, though, lmao.

I never saw the movie but I guess if I did I would be in that same spot as you in regards to memory.

I read the series back in high school but don't remember much about them. I remember liking the first three a lot but not caring much for the remaining ones.

It's weird how it was written as a sequel to the books but it seems like barely anyone knew that, even the ones who were already fans. I never saw it but does the movie make that clear at all?

It was meant to be a sequel? I thought they just made an amalgam or something. Also, a little awkward since King said he might do another DT book, so this one's basically noncanon fluff (?) I guess.

Best part of the movie was when Idris was all "you got .45 caliber bullets there?" and the kid replies "You're gonna like Earth".

In the books I vaguely remember Roland not knowing anything about any sort of guns except revolvers and thinking pretty much every firearm made on Earth was complete garbage.
